In my search for the perfect show, I was finding very appealing shows that I would like to watch everyday. Now I know that probably sounds corny, considering that shows nowadays are targeted to one specific demographic. It looks like television stations are really looking deeper into these pitches and producing smarter choices. The show I selected to profile was GCB.
Originally titled, Good Christian Bitches, the show had controversy before it even started. The title, which too the average college-student audience who most likely not take offense in the title, had many bad connotations to it. By this I mean people did not think putting the world Christian and bitches in the same time was very nice. The network ABC produced the show in 2011. Since then, ABC has toned down the title to GCB. The show has been compared to a southern accent Desperate Housewives. This is particularly good for the networking seeing ass Desperate Housewives has come to an end.
GCB would be classified as an American comedy-drama television series created and written by Robert Hardling and produced by Darren Star. The show aired on March 4, 2012 at 10:00PM Eastern Time as a midseason replacement. Some of the actors in the show are Kristin Chenoweth, Leslie Bibb, Jennifer Aspen, Miriam Shor, Marisol Nichols, and Annie Potts.
The plot of the series centers on a recently widowed woman, Amanda Vaughn, who moves her family backs to Dallas, Texas in a neighborhood she grew up in. Amanda was the Queen Bitch in high school and later married a very rich man. They soon lost everything because her husband had stolen billion of dollars from his company and had been exposed. It was after a tragic car crash along with his mistress, that Amanda becomes widow and decided to move back to her hometown. Her former classmates, believe she is still that snotty Queen Bitch she used to be and have recement towards her. Amanda had children and is trying to be a good mother but the people from the town speak bad about each other. The show is very dramatic but funny at the same time.
At the moment GCB does not have a particular show that is a competition to them. Since Desperate Housewives has stopped production, they have replaced that same demographic with something similar but fresh at the same time.
The show has received good reviews and people like it. Although they received a lot of speculation at the beginning, the characters and the plot of the story have remain to gain an audience. The show is very fun to watch and I am now addicted to it. Tune in everyday Sunday, 10 PM Eastern Time on ABC.
